Design Inspo | #LDF16: Design Junction

Design Junction might just have been my favourite part of London Design Week last month. Just like Decorex, there was a lot of good stuff, but this was a little more down-to-Earth and attainable, especially all the pop-up shops. Sara Mellone was a stand-out for me. I love her minimalist brass coat racks so much. Her leather hangers were perfection too. I commented on how much I liked the designer’s earrings at the show, and she’d made those too (check out…

ORC Week 2 | Art and A Mirror for our Master

So far, I’ve not made a huge amount of progress in our bedroom makeover for the One Room Challenge. I have, however, done plenty of ordering, and listed a good chunk of clutter on eBay. The Mood Board In case you missed last week’s post, here’s my plan: Look for Less: Artwork I’ve been enamored with a stunning large-scale cloud print by JR Goodwin for ages, but at £930, it wasn’t going to happen. Then I stumbled on a similar…

Design Finds | Love Your Home Chesterfield Sofa Bed

I’ve had a Chesterfield sofa bed on my wish list for a long time now. And I finally found “the one.” Check out Clementine. Choosing “The One” A lot of time went into selecting this sofabed. I decided on one from Love Your Home over a year ago because they’re solid, great quality, and well priced. I was torn between two models, though – the more traditional, chunky Churchill or the curvier, more feminine Clementine. I went to check out…

ORC Week 1 | Mood Board | Eclectic Neutral Bedroom

It’s One Room Challenge time again, and this time I’m working on a neutral master bedroom design that will transform a boring loft room into a bit of a retreat. The One Room Challenge is a bi-annual event where a multitude of interior designers and bloggers each work on transforming a space over six weeks, posting weekly updates. So much good stuff comes out of this – mountains of inspiration – and I’m thoroughly excited to join in again. Last round,…

Design Inspo | #LDF16: Decorex

I spent most of last week exploring London Design Festival. It was a tad overwhelming but incredibly inspirational. I didn’t get to half the stuff I wanted to see, but I will share the highlights for the bits I did see. Decorex is first up. If you’re not familiar, Decorex is a huge design show with a focus on luxury interiors. I spent four hours there and was practically running around at the end trying to squeeze it all in…

Design Finds | Wooden Bead Shelves & A Happy Richmond Rental

DIY // I loved the DIY wooden bead shelves that Nadia used in her daughter’s room during the last One Room Challenge. Check out the tutorial here and her equally adorable room makeover here. STYLE // Rose gold head phones, anyone?   FINDS // I’m a sucker for small space solutions – love this fold-away desk from from CB2. I’m also crushing on The Forest Fern‘s stunning macrame work. I found her on Instagram – she’s definitely one to follow.   TRAVEL…

Design Finds | Woven Wall Hanging

Design Finds | Woven Wall Hanging

In my original mood board for my living room design, I’d included a woven wall hanging. Unfortunately, the piece I’d used was basically impossible to get hold of. I’d had a look at other weavings on Etsy, but I wanted something both very textured and very neat, and everything I found was either one or the other. Then I found Anita Meads of By Bella Designs through Instagram (I’m EmmersonAnd15th over there), and totally fell in love with her work. When I got…

Design Inspo | Fawakay Villas

I have to share a few pics of where we stayed recently in Morocco, because it was gorgeous. I also posted about the souk here. Fawakay Villas is a little compound located about half an hour from central Marrakech. They have three beautiful Moroccan guest villas, and we stayed in the smallest one. Our villa’s bedroom was lovely and bright – neutral but with lots of texture, like the gorgeous Moroccan wedding blanket on the bed. River rock covered the floors…

Design Inspo | Marrakech Souk

Marrakech’s souk is a crazy place. Hundreds of little stalls and shops, and a few larger ones, packed into tiny streets, filled with thousands of beautiful things. It’s worth visiting Marrakech just for the rugs. An 8×10 Beni Ourain rug, bought from the UK, costs up to £2000. Buy directly at the market and you’re looking at about a sixth of that. I picked up two on a recent family trip, and discovered a lot of interior design inspiration on…
